RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Reserve Bank of India is the central bank of India that operates the banking network in India. It is governed by the Ministry of Finance of India. It was established on 1st April 1935 with its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is responsible for managing and controlling all the banking networks in PAN India. This organisation releases notifications to hire eligible candidates for different posts in its organisation in a timely manner, and this year, this organisation has invited 650 eligible candidates for the post of Assistant in RBI under RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026. Age Limit for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026

If you are interested in this recruitment, then your minimum age to apply for this recruitment must not be less than 20 years, and the maximum age to apply for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 is 28 years. The age will be calculated as on 01st February 2026. However, the organisation has also given age relaxation to the candidates who fall into reserve categories, that is, as follows:

  • The candidates of the unreserved category will get no upper age relaxation
  • The candidates who fall into the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories will get upper age relaxation of 5 years, i.e. the maximum age to apply for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 will be 33 years for these categories.
  • The candidates falling into other backward cast category will get upper age relaxation of 3 years, i.e. the maximum age to apply for this recruitment is 31 years for the OBC category
  • The person with Benchmark Disability will get 10 years of upper age relaxation for candidates who fall into the general and Economically Weaker Section category, i.e. the maximum age to apply for this recruitment will be 38 years.
  • The candidates with a benchmark disability who fall into other backward caste will get 13 years of age relaxation, i.e. the maximum age to apply for this category of candidates will be 41 years.
  • The candidates with a benchmark disability who fall into the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe categories will get 15 years of upper age relaxation, i.e. the maximum age to apply for this category will be 43 years to apply for the RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026.
  • Divorced women, widows, or the women who are judicially separated and did not marry again will get 7 years of upper age relaxation for the general, EWS and OBC category and for SC and ST, the upper age relaxation will be of 13 years for such candidates.

Educational Qualifications for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026

  • The candidates who are applying for this recruitment must have a graduate degree in any discipline with an aggregate percentage of 50%, and candidates who fall into the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and PwBD categories must have passing marks in a graduate degree in any discipline to apply for the RBI Assistant Vacancy 2026.
  • For the candidates who belonged to armed forces must have either graduate degree with passing marks or matriculation or any equivalent degree of the armed forces from a recognised board or university. The candidates should also have served 15 years of defence services.
  • Candidates should also have good knowledge of reading, writing, speaking and understanding the language of the state they are applying for.

Other Eligibility Criteria for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026

  • The candidates who are applying for this recruitment must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • The candidates who are Tibetan refugees who migrated to India before 1st January 1962 and settled permanently here in India are also eligible to apply for the RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026.

Selection Process of RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026

The candidates who are applying for RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 will be selected based on preliminary examination, main examination and language proficiency test (LPT)

First of all, the candidates will have to face a preliminary examination. The pattern of preliminary examination will be as follows:

  • The preliminary examination will cover three main topics: English language, reasoning ability and numeric ability
  • The number of questions asked in the English language will be 30, and each question carries 1 mark each. The total time to solve the English language test will be 20 minutes.
  • The questions from numeric ability will be 35, and each question will be worth 1 mark. The total time allotted to solve the questions will be 20 minutes
  • The number of questions for numeric ability will be 35, and each question carries 1 mark. Again, the total time allotted to solve the questions will be 20 minutes.
  • The total number of questions asked in the preliminary examination of RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 will be 100, and the total number for all questions will be 100. The total time allotted for preliminary examinations will be 60 minutes.

The candidates who qualify for the preliminary examination will be asked for main examination. The pattern of the main examination is as follows:

  • The questions in the main examination will be asked from 5 topics, that is, Test of Computer Knowledge, Test of General Awareness, Test of Numerical Ability, Test of English Language, and Test of Reasoning.
  • The total number of questions asked in General Awareness will be 40, and 1 mark will be allotted to each question. The total time allotted to solve the questions will be 25 minutes
  • The number of questions asked in computer knowledge will be 40, and 1 mark will be given to each question. The total time allotted to solve the questions will be 20 minutes.
  • To solve the numeric ability section, the number of questions will be 40 and 1 mark carry each question. Total 30 minutes will be allotted to solve the questions asked in this section.
  • The number of questions will be 40 in the English language section, carrying 1 mark for each question. The total time allotted to solve the questions will be 30 minutes.
  • The total number of questions in the reasoning section will be 40, and each question carries 1 mark. The total time allotted to solve the questions will be 30 minutes.
  • So, in total, the number of questions will be 200, and the total marks will be 200. The total time allotted for the reasoning test will be 135 minutes, i.e. 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Finally, the language proficiency test of the candidate will be judged by the recruiting body.
