Age Limit for Indian Railway RRB Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification for Indian Railway RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

The candidates who are interested in this post and are going to apply for the RRB ALP Vacancy 2026 need to have the following educational qualifications:

• Must have a degree of Matriculation and SSLC with ITI in Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic, Instrument, Millwright/maintenance, etc. from a recognised board or university that must be approved by the government.

Selection Process of Indian Railway RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

The selection of the candidates under RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 will be done based on the following stages:

• CBT (Computer-Based Test-1)
• CBT (Computer-Based Test-2)
• CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
• DV (Document Verification)
• ME (Medical Examination)

Stage-1: Computer Based Test-1

In Computer-Based Test 1, only the screening of the candidates will be done for shortlisting candidates for CBT-2. The marks of CBT-1 will not be considered in the final result. The pattern of CBT-1 is as follows:

• The total duration of the examination will be 60 minutes or 1 hour.
• There will be 75 question is CBT-1 of 75 marks, i.e. each question carries 1 mark.
• Negative marking is applicable as 1/3^rd of the mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• Minimum passing marks for the general category and the Economically Weaker Section will be 40%, for Other Backwards Caste (NCL), 30%, for the Scheduled Caste- 30% and for the Scheduled Tribe, it is 25%.
• The questions in the CBT-1 will be asked from Mathematics, Mental Ability and General Science up to the 10^th Level.

Stage-2: Computer Based Test-2

The CBT-2 Test is divided into two parts, i.e., Part 1 and Part-2. The pattern of examination of CBT-2 is mentioned below:

Part-1:

• A total of 100 questions will be asked for 100 marks in part 1. The duration of part 1 will be 90 minutes.
• There shall be negative marking for each wrong answer, as 1/3^rd of the mark will be deducted.
• The questions in Part 1 will be asked from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, & Basic Science and Engineering.

Part-2:

• The total number of questions asked in part-2 will be 75 of 75 marks.
• The duration of the examination will be 60 minutes.
• There shall be negative marking for every wrong answer
• 1/3^rd mark will be deducted for false answers
• The questions will be asked from different topics as per the qualifications of the candidates.

The candidates who will be selected in CBT-2 will be asked for CBAT. There shall not be negative marking in the Computer-based Aptitude Test (CBAT). All candidates (irrespective of community) must secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battery separately to qualify for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).

Document Verification (DV)

The marks of the candidates obtained in CBT Part-1 and  CBAT will be considered in the ratio of 50:50, and on that basis, the final candidates will be asked for document verification. In case more than one candidate got the same marks, then the selection will be done considering their age, and if the age is also the same, then they will be selected on the basis of their name in alphabetical order.

Medical Examination

Finally, the candidates will be asked for a medical examination, where the full fitness of the candidates will be checked.
